Can a carb engine have blower surge or only injected engines?
Saw I bit on utube it explained blower surge was caused by the injector hat butterflies being sucked closed and opening and cycling. Thanks for any info RM

This area of expertise is outside of my skill set, but this thread was very informative regarding blower surge (1); and that Skater named Sorcerer with the Race Crafter engines, and had that bower surge from the videos years ago (2). I am not fan of blower surge at all. 1 https://www.performanceboats.com/thr...r-surge.48868/ 2 |
Blower surge is the product of a poorly tuned engine carb or EFI............:party-smiley-004:

So, what causes it? Genuine question.... Thanks. Brad. (937)545-8991 |

Isn't the Blower surge Button vid ICDEDPPL's?
+1 on the bad tune but it is sooooo cool to hear on big mills! (Dan had the answer to cover both worlds with "the button") |

Rod was way ahead of the game in the early 2000s making BIG Hp |
Before I went EFI...the best my boat would ever run with big carbs it would surge when coming out of gear...surge 2 or 3 good ones then level out...had to time the shifting with the surge or else it would die every time and that makes it a lot less cool hahaha after going EFI and finding a proper tuner, no surge at all, shifts great, and the back of my boat isn't black anymore after running. Surge sounds cool but I'll take a clean transom and easy shifts/docking anyday!!!

I like the sound of it, but i don't think I'd like to actually have a car/boat with it! :D
From what i've been told, basically the tuning is off on the engine and the motor is cycling from rich to lean. On a carb application ive been told its cause the carb has not been boost referenced and its screwing with the power valve. |

Power Valves don't open at idle , and Rod's motors back in the day at Pro Tech Dyno Shop were definitely B@@ST reference 3 circuit |

you can see timing and iac counts in the vid. (yellow is timing and to the left is IAC count.) |

I'm a little touchy as I have some mouthy little fatherless bastard neighbor kid continually revving up his turbo Subaru at all hours of the day. Damn thing sounds like a 4 cylinder with 2of the plug wires switched . |
