Their letting us on the boats but a big problem is there is only 3 feet of water in the channel to the bridge right now . I don’t think we can even get over to the channel on the island side and it’s most likely been filled in The incredible amount of sand and houses and cars that are in the back bay is going to make it a real treat to dredge Going to try and get out on my boat to view back bay but no ramps are open yet. |
Any more pics of how bad the big yacht is? That’s pretty crazy. Lots of boat carnage but rare to see something that large.

Anybody hear from Craig/Old School? I think he lived in Ft Myers on the water. |

I conclude that their the boat that took out all the other piers as that was moored on the end of furthest north western pier and the end where they were broke off and came in and got thee other 3 piers when the surge really rushed in from the inlet mouth after the eye passed. There was not enough piling to hold that yacht in a strong NW blow much less a hurricane. The shop at Salty Sams has a waterline showing 14 of surge. 95% of the boats faired well at their floating dock , some with no damage at all. But anything that was in that yachts path got ran over and sunk. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...a0d60caad.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...70a8869b7.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...8a3c76242.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...4b63ac424.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...948846d9b.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...596795e39.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...69c234186.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...1201a87d0.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...6b4c4766a.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...1390db631.jpeg |
I cannot even imagine how any of that is possible without just trashing everything in the water. Still waiting new from my Lake neighbor to find out when we can head to Bonita to start cleaning up his house. As of Friday, no power, no water, no gas and they were not allowing anyone or contractors to enter into the neighborhood on Hickory.

Going down to Salty Sams to try to salvage the gear off my buddies sailboat he lived on uninsured.
He wants to walk away from it but I’m going to try to salvage it before anyone lays claim on it. Salty Sams sent a letter of termination and demanded all boats be removed from property today . little tough when a whole pier is in the way , not to mention the 100 foot yacht that’s holed and sitting on the bottom. There are a bunch of people that stayed on 55, 65, 75 foot vessels, this dude rode it out on a 35. He was like "hold my beer bitcches". I heard that Apache adopted this guy as their new spokesman: https://autos.yahoo.com/autos/fort-m...7uBFmhDJoLa54r |
My neighbor here on the river in North Idaho just got back from a week long trip to check on his place on Marco, he’s more familiar with Ft Meyers Beach than I am. He said the surge at FMB was every bit of 12-15.
Marco got 8’. He had water in his garage but not the house. |
