Amsoil Usage in Dry Sump 6
Anyone have any experience running Amsoil 75W-90 Marine Gear Lube in dry sump six?

Ran it plenty in my #5 drives, really it`s my favorite gear oil, always had the least amount of fuzz on the magnet .Not sure about dry sump but I don`t see why not unless the pump need lower viscosity.

I ran it in dry sump 6's for 4 seasons. Then sold bolt. No issues, magnets clean, and lube looked relatively clean every 25 hours. I tried it in a Bravo 1 once and the cone clutch didn't like it (slipped, too slick I'd guess), so I never ran Amsoil in the transmission for fear that it would slip.

Im sure I just jinxed myself lol |
Bob Teague was running Amsoil in the motors and drives of the Miss Amsoil when he was racing. They did tear downs and inspections at the end of the season and saw no measurable wear. Tried to find the article, but it's not in the Amsoil digital library. The marine gear lube is what AADS recommends for Bravo's they warranty for 24 months. They say do not use the extreme gear as it's too slippery and burns out clutches.

Yeah, I used Extreme in the Bravo situation. Went back to Merc lube and slipping clutch symptom went away. It's too slick.

Amsoil it is in the 6. Thank you for the feed back! Nice to know I will not be the first on the block to run it! Dan I too have been running F Type trans fluid in the trannies for many years with excellent results. This boat has some of Mark's Super Cyborg's so I need to look at that eventually I am thinking. Thanks!
