Both of those 42x’s were built years ago at this point, before the new management

My buddy has a 42x on order that just came out of the mold last week. He ordered it at the boat show last year so call it a year and a half to get a new boat. I think they’re doing fine

C'mon Guys - some of you are commenting before you're reading the article from Matt!

Right there in print - attendees are going to be treated to updates on their apparel line and a family member is going to get us up to speed on they PWC business. I'm not sure what else you could ask for from arguably the most historic/iconic PERFORMANCE Boat brand in the history of the sport.....

"In addition, Cigarette will present recent additions to its official apparel line and will provide updates, according to chief marketing officer Cristina E. Ruiz, on its coming personal watercraft line—including launch dates. And as it did last year, the company will use its massive audio-visual display as a backdrop for its exhibit."

1100 and 1100/1350 which PBC sold last month. He’s retired to slow boats 😉

Now that is a guy that could buy Cigarette out of its ashtray and make it #1 again!

Must’ve been a tough decision choosing between the Miami Boat Show and New York Fashion Week!

Here’s hoping next year the events coordinate better and they can do both. After all there are only so many massive audio visuals displays

Matt, any plans to do a story about CRT bringing another manufacturers ski to the show and passing it off as their own incomplete work?

If speedonthwater.com covered personal watercraft, I'd have an update. I must have missed it in the Cigarette Miami Boat Show display. Then again, I wasn't looking for it because—again—we don't cover personal watercraft.

But as the guy who covered that segment as part of his beat for Powerboat magazine, I can tell you that Kawasaki, Sea-Doo and Yamaha are entrenched. I can also tell you the PWC market peaked in 1996 with sales—across five or six companies at the time—of approximately 250,000 units. In 2020, according to stats kept by the National Marine Manufacturer's Association, less one third of that was produced and sold.

Translation? It's tough market dominated by three ferocious, well-established competitors. I wish Cigarette well if the current company owners continue in that direction as I don't root for the failure of any boat company, but for what it's worth I see that segment as incredibly tough for a new player, regardless of its go-fast powerboat-building pedigree.
