Might consider the 28 Saber for sale with twin outboard EFI's, I believe it's listed on this site. Facebook is a great place to look for boats off traditional market listings.

Agreed.
When we were in the hunt for the upgrade from our Rinker 236SC, I had kind of settled on, and gotten pretty narrow minded I wanted the PQ280. Since I don't InstaGoogleTwitterFace anything, I hadn't even eplored FBMP. I was telling my nephew that I could find all the 33s and 38s I could stand, but not that first 28. He pulled out his phone.... Tap tap tap... "What? You mean like THIS one....?" Long story short.... We ended up buying that boat. FBMP can be a wonderful resource for a great many things, including boats.
Thanks. Brad.

Others disagree, but it'll start and run great every time. Enjoyed mine in a 28 for years, never in the shop, ran great, decent power, and this is just personal but the difference between 70 and 72-73 for the next step up was meaningless to me. When a Outerlimits blows by you so fast you're going backwards the folly of extra HP and the extra mainentance in some instances for a couple mph is isn't worth it. But that's just me.

Agreed. Aside for the injector adventure I had last summer, which I'm convinced was the result of the boat being 20 years old with only 143 hours on it when we bought it (do the math), our 496HO runs great. It fires right up every time we hit the key and runs as strong as an engine has rights to. Granted ours is mildly boosted, but 76 is plenty. Especially with a stock Bravo outdrive. I know we aren't going to be the fastest thing on the lake, but that wasn't the goal.
Thanks. Brad.

Thanks guys for all of the info here.....I have owned plenty of speed boats over the years....have run quite a few. Not looking to break the sound barrier. I know the 29 Fountain with the 496ho is a little underpowered, but know the motor is very reliable. Of course I would want a 41 Apache with twin 1550s but I only have a 30ft slip behind the house. Had twin 502/500hp big blocks in my Cig and spent a lot of time working on it. They claim 70 top end on the 29 with 496ho, I doubt that....probably 63-64 max. Boat will be used for bar hopping, sand bars, some runs in the ocean, maybe a few trips to the bahamas and a poker run or two....so reliability/minimum issues/limited downtime is important. I will give an update next week after I have a look. Anyone ever own this 29 with a 496ho? Please chime in good/bad, thanks so much and Happy Friday!

if buying a used fountain please please please check the transom. If the tailpipes come through plastic beauty rings...it's not even a debate. It needs one.
There are a few 30 Superboats for sale. They'll eat anything in their size range in rough water.
Good luck.

Copy that on the PQ! Thanks TeamSaris regarding the transom, if I like the boat I will have it surveyed and double check that transom! Always loved the Long Island SB's....dont see them down here!! But I saw a lot of them on the Island where I grew up!! I will take a look, I know they run strong!!
