I wonder how all these quad/quint boats will age? Rebuilding or repowering will be physically easier but cost prohibitive? Also, time will tell how well these crowded transoms hold up.

An otam 70 runs 57 with 4000hp

https://www.otam.it/en/fast-and-iconic/70'-ht/

You could get 2433hp/side Cat C32Bs in there.

I’d guess they want around 5mm for one? Maybe 4?

Id hate to guess what the C32B+trans+arneson+rolla combo runs. 500k+/side is just a guess.

Because if you’re using the boat as a day boat, most of the time when you pull up to a restaurant/bar/marina in a 67 footer they don’t have the space… We always have to throw anchor and take the tender into wherever we’re heading for an afternoon.

Cruise speed is the biggest advantage of a diesel vs OB. An OB that runs 60 cruises at 40. A diesel/arneson setup that runs 50 will cruise at 40.

I would imagine two 1550 Mans and arneson would be as fast as the (5) 600’s top end, would cruise at 50 and you would be burning about 90gph between the two.

Yeah, there’s no where on earth I know of that you can bar hop in a 70’ boat. You’re for sure giving that up around 50’. You’re relegated to sandbars and cruises between large marinas.

We do just that with our 63 Riva, and if the dock is packed that’s when the tender that’s easy in, easy out comes in handy.

in 2007 John Cosker has his SL70 running a tick under 80 with 2x 1800 Cat/ surface drives....

In general, whether you would want o/b or diesels, this Scout is a sharp looking boat in the pics - didn't expect to see that type of design from them. I will say we only see the put-put sized Scouts here
