At least for me, it was very useful for to finally understand why your relationship with OSO is the way it is.
However, there is another barrier to clicking through, again at least for me:
What you write here as regular OSO users is always of high quality: lucid and to the point. It is clear that you are capable writers.
On the other hand, what you write as journalists on speedonthewater.com has a very high cringe-factor. I just don’t want to go there because of what I expect to find when I click on that link.

But back to your "cringing." Please, by all means, if you can find a better source of daily information on the high-performance powerboating world than speedonthewater.com, I encourage you to bookmark it, frequent and it and avoid wasting your time with SOTW.
Something I learned a long time in this business? Trying to please everyone guarantees you'll please no one.
P.S. External links are what make the Internet so amazing. The cul-de-sac approach to websites, message boards or otherwise, simply does not work—we proved that when I helped start boats.com in 2001—and, in fact, hurts your referral traffic. And referral traffic is a very big deal.

Indirectly, yes. Circulation equals readership and readership translates to being attractive to advertisers. If we posted our entire news stories here, we would not get the benefit of readers visiting speedonthewater.com to read the stories.
But we'd be providing one hell of a service to Internet Brands.

The price of reading our stories though this website is a click. If that price is too high, by all means don't pay it.
(P.S. It's a lot cheaper than my soul, which I believe you said I sold in your last comment directed my way.

If i posted links to a competitors site i,d be banned pretty quick! you mush have a relationship with both.....instead of how many refrigerators company x bolted on their new 60 footer that really does nothing well how about doing article,s on the guys restoring some of our classic offshore boats? In our neck of the woods they restored 4 of a kind the 4 engine Outerlimits a massive project and it came out awesome. i think and hope most on this site are not here for the bling we are here for the Passion and Love for the old school classics(and the huge effort it takes to restore these beast!.I have enjoyed your many story's but in the last few years they seem geared and cater to the bling....... carry on..... ill head back to the bilge where i belong!

I started posting SOTW stories here in (yikes) 2009 with permission from the owners of the site (Internet Brands). Jason Johnson and I also wrote weekly columns for the OSO homepage (I wrote two a week, to be accurate) as paid freelancers for about four years. Within two weeks of the pandemic news of January 2020, IB decided they needed to make cutbacks, probably believing the boating market was going to tank (oops), and Jason and I were cut.
Though my initial goal in posting news on this message board was to drive traffic to speedonthewater.com, Jason and I do it out of courtesy and habit these days—referral traffic to SOTW from all message boards is minimal. We have offered to stop doing so if that's what the majority of OSO members want, and will do so with a heartfelt "thank you for everything" if that ever becomes the case.
While we could always produce more project stories, I think we do a reasonably good job with them, https://www.speedonthewater.com/category/projects/. Jason just posted a wrap-up of Waves and Wheels projects this week. The actual DIY-by-owner stuff is far more difficult as they rarely have the photography to support such stories.
And that said, while project stories do well if the project in question is special, new product moves the traffic needle, meaning they get read. New product is created by the advertisers (and even several non-advertisers) that support speedonthewater.com.
It's all a balance for speedonthewater.com coverage and one that could always be better. That, I think you'll struggle to find anything like it elsewhere.

Thank you.... if you can make it work and everyone is happy its a win win... maybe consider a few resto projects along the way i,m feeling the vibe that we are getting close to whats old is new again! airplanes went thru the multi engine fad a long time ago with 12 or more big engines today even the 4 engine jets are done 2 do the job better i think we will see the marine industry follow eventually

Well this one went off track. Seems the projects that are well documented end up on here anyway.
- Diesel powered Baja.
- Miami Vice boat.
- 37 AVS AT
- 40 or 44 Skater Phil is doing.
Fair question.
