Running naturally aspirated engines from Sixteen Power, JBS Racing had a fine 2022 Class 1 season—and one that was a successful proving ground for the 16-cylinder mills, https://www.speedonthewater.com/sixt...lass-1-season/

Thats really interesting. Congrats to Sixteen Power. The engine apparently broke in nicely.
Whats the weight of a Sixteen compared to a Mercury 1100 engine? Is the 1100 really 1700 pounds? If the Sixteen are two LS7s they are 570 each for a total of 1140 pounds plus maybe some closed cooling(is it closed cooled?) so maybe 1400 is that right? So two small blocks are about 300 lbs lighter than the Merc 1100 platform?

That could be a issue.

I was thinking more along the lines of pleasure boats, didn't think they were looking only at race boats.
Since you brought it up I was trying to find how heavy the extreme class boats are. I didn't. I did find that the JBS sixteen power MTI was 12,000 lbs when they raced P1. They were one of the heavier boats.

They have relationships with manufacturers and if money is no issue.
Other proprietary parts I'd guess Mercrury...
I just checked Bams site, interestingly about everything internal in the short block and the heads including the head aren't sold separate except the main bearings.

If I remember right Geico got Kaase involved looking for durability with the QC4V.
Then also seen an interview where Kaase mentioned getting into them.
