The fines are pocket change compared to the amount they said was stolen. |

Just that group alone, stole 600 or so outboards ? Wow.
5yrs each outboard would be better. Up to 5 yrs total is criminal itself. |
Agreed five years seems light on. BUT, then you read that the person they shipped them to received five years for people smuggling it makes you think
|
Isn’t this like a slow Tuesday down there?

I read the title and thought…..Holy cow, how do you steal a 600? They’re huge!
Ok, I got it now. :) These people are filth, throw the book at them. RR |
They stole a quantity of 600

Prosecutors said they stole 600 motors but the indictment was for 20 motors, hence the light sentences: The goofy part is they valued the thefts at 9.5 to 25 million. 600 motors at 10mm is 16.6K each, at 25MM is $41.6 each. Seems like sloppy math/bad reporting there. These guys weren't out stealing Evinrude 2 strokes. The case was about false exporting/serial numbers not the actual thefts/burglary. The indictment — built upon allegedly falsified records along with video surveillance footage — says that Nadia and Carlos Ledesma received at least 20 stolen outboard engines from Osmani Valdivia and others and illegally shipped them to Mexico |
