Yeah it seems most knock how bad the ocean can get. From my reading here the great lakes or lake mead would make the deadliest catch crew cry lol

I'm a no one that only would venture out on calm days, usually. One time I had my wife and I went the ocean route to save time. It was a miserable 20-30 miles. Took a pounding. I laugh when i read guys in 18' boats out in 12' waves. Lol my ruler must be different.

I'm glad you and the boat made it in one piece. Hopefully you enjoy a trouble free season with it!!!

Wow Indy, that boat looks real clean! That is perfect for what you want to do! Now, when are you going to head to Claudio's?

Thanks GC, probably a bit later in the summer! Took it for its "first ride" yesterday, shot over from Norwalk to West Cove (Oyster Bay). How nice it was not to get the sh*t kick out of me like last Tuesday. I not doing that again anytime soon LOL.

Just a few thoughts for anyone looking to get one of these type boats, they like HP, the hulls don't really get on top unless you're on the throttles. Mine is a 31'9" LOA with twin 300s, doesn't really feel like the hull is "comfortable" unless I'm pushing 4800 minimum, otherwise it feels like it's just pushing water. 350s would be best but they came stock with 300s. Definitely not like my old boats but it has tons of really great features that's going to make it a fun summer. No regrets.

Funny footnote to this story...as we were making way through the "marshy rivulets" from Freeport to Jones Inlet we were mostly at idle speed with some limited planing speed. As we got into the inlet it was nice and calm (which was the last calm we'd see that day!) and I brought it up to plane.
The boat being 5 minutes new to me I'm just trying to figure the thing out, after a few minutes on plane I bring it back down to idle and my buddy asks me what's going on? I told him something wrong with the boat, I think we're dragging tabs, maybe I'm not reading the gauge correctly so I go back to the transom and look under the swim platform and they're up...thinking to myself that strange I swear we were dragging them with setting all the way down. I go back to the helm get back on plane and shut it down again and I say to my buddy something's f'd up, I think we must be dragging a lobster pot or something so I go back and he raises the outboards...nothing...they look fine. Both props are on not dragging anything. I just shrug my shoulders and don't know what to think.
Turns out it just the way the boat is LOL, it's a big heavy boat with outboards that doesn't run anywhere near what a romping offshore boat will...I'm just getting used to it and have no regrets but sheesh...what a difference. So if any of you get one, don't worry, it works great! I'm finding out that the joy of an offshore boat is getting there, the joy of this boat is being there!! It's just great to be on the water no matter what :D
