Batman Boat Auction

Here's everyone's chance, appears the Batman MTI is going up for auction.
I don't have Facebook, screenshot was sent to me so did a snip when I Googled the auction house name.

Artwork was pretty amazing. The wings are kooky. If that boat has been sitting for years with old 1075's I'd think its needs a re-power at this point.

Theme boats usually don't age well but I'd say Gunslinger NT, Speed Racer MTI and the RumRunner Cig have aged well.

Love that movie, it was sooo bad, it was good. It had everything……
Bat car
Bat bike
Bat copter
Bat boat (Glastron V174 with a 6cyl sterndrive, the ‘jet rooster tail’ was a set up)

Even had an aerosol can of shark repellant bat spray to get that nasty old white pointer off Batman’s leg, if I recall correctly!

Best line of the century……..”Some days, you just can’t get rid of a bomb”.

Batboat definitely goofy.
One comment even said "That thing is hideous".

Funny you mention 1075's.
One of the pictures had 2) 1075's sitting out.
One commenter asked if they were spares or out of the boat.
Auctioneer claimed they were spares.

For commissioning that boat, yes. :cool-smiley-011:

Anyhow, in all seriousness there was a comment where someone mentioned fraud and prison. Accurate?? Don't know!

The original owners were sent up the river (LOL) for Car Warranty fraud stuff.

While I WOULD NOT want to take this boat out on the water, it is/was an amazing piece of art. Should've been hanging on the wall or inside a mall or museum since the day it was completed. Gary Stray killed it on the final results from the original conceptions.

Elliot (one of the most recent owners) ran this boat really well on the OPA circuit. It turns on a dime. He wasn't afraid of running it hard either! I can remember running next to him in Englewood in some pretty big water. Jay Muller was throttling. It was cool having it at the races...the crowds loved that boat.

I’ve seen it run a few races with OPA, it was pretty fast. I think the paint job looks better in person, actually pretty cool close up. Like Team Saris said, got a lot of attention in the pits

Wildman_grafix 06-20-2023 10:44 AM

I remember when it was originally done, one of my airbrush sites did an article on it. The amount of hours into that is amazing.

I thought on the Facebook post they said the current owner died? Maybe, not really sure they were also auctioning a lot of equipment in the same lot.

I never liked the wings on the boat, but on the racecourse in Englewood that boat worked well. I too remember

It is nice art I agree.
Speaking of being popular, someone should get it and do the kids charity rides in it.
Bet it'd be the only boat they wanted to ride in.

AB From Windsor 06-20-2023 10:32 PM

There is no question that boat is a work of Art and I have seen it racing in OPA many times and it was always a big attraction to spectators and especially the kids. I don't know why the Wings would bother anyone, I think that boat was so kool. I am surprised to see it up for Auction and wonder what happened to the owner?

105Fountain 06-21-2023 07:47 AM

What did it sell for?

Saw it at a couple races.
It did get attention and seemed to have a lot of fans.
:)

Plowtownmissile 06-22-2023 10:42 PM

Wonder what happened to the owner? He was a local guy that lived around Godfrey/Brighton IL.

swiss 07-31-2023 07:30 PM

Sold for 276,000
that’s about 18% of the original price!
