Bow rides high
Hello fellow boaters and Happy 4th!
I recently acquired a 2005 Concept 36 cuddy center console powered with 2017 twin Mercury 350 Verados. It is a lightweight and fast boat that rides bow high under 20 mph making it difficult to cruise at slower speeds, even with the engines trimmed all the way down. Even at higher speeds I rarely trim up. Is this typical of either these boat types or brand? Also, what can be done to remedy the issue. Extra weight in the cuddy? Would jack plates do anything? |
Might check with other Concept 36 owners to see if trim tabs would help with low speed planing. Try spinning your props in instead of out ?

36 with Verados is a stern heavy rig. I have a lot of seat time in that setup. Drop the tabs a little. Spinning in will not help.
What props? We ran bravo 1s with good results. HydroMotives would give more stern lift but it wont plane quite as effortlessly. |
Dropped the tabs a bit; boat rides beautifully now. Jeez, can you tell I’m a newbie to the boating world??? I seriously was ready to sell this thing.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions here, there’s always somebody willing to help.

I know the boat is really quick AND fast; seems like much more power than it needs. Really am interested in your opinion on the boat good and; things you liked and didn’t like since you’ve had a lot of experience with this setup. Thanks 🙏 |
