24’ magnum express
Does anyone have info on Magnum Express powerboats? Only in business for a few years in the mid-late 80’s….out of Florida….thanks

Yes, search for Magnum 24 in the Magnum forum.
I owned the Magnum Express molds at one time. Built in Pompano, FL. Interesting history. Really fast hull. |

The hull was designed "fresh" as the Apache 24, but they never made a boat. It's a scaled up George Linder Style bottom.
The hull mold was purchased out of Pompano and a new deck built as well as a one-off prototype race boat. The boat sold thereafter as the TANTRUM Powerboats by Magnum Express - very fast bottom. Sold about 40 as far as I remember There is NO relation to Magnum Marine or Midnight Express. Hope this helps https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...7f48545705.png https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...9d74e3638b.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...5c7a3164b9.png |

Great info, thank you…..sounds like a very well designed hull, and something that’d be worth the time and effort to keep on the water.

Good luck. |
That deck wind screen area sure looks Apache-ish

I never actually built one out of the molds.
I have a friend who owned one of the premier fiberglass lamination shops in Miami. He was contracted to re-engineer lamination schedule for these boats after some flexing was found on some areas of the bottom. He layed up two hulls and decks. Gentleman whom contracted him to build decided to concentrate on his other business. I purchased the two hulls . Seller offered molds and all legal documents to produce boat for an additional $2k. I sold one hull and deck bare, the other was rigged w/triple Merc 200's. Saw the 3x200 boat on film taking rounds from the Coast Guard while smuggling people from the Bahamas. |
