Click the link, it’s a Fountain Owners Manual. Obviously endorsed/written by Reggie Fountain so it’s pretty good.
Manual pages 47-56 (Download pages 51-60) https://media.fountainpowerboats.com...-27ft-47ft.pdf If it doesn’t make sense or it’s difficult to understand, don’t buy a stepped hull. RR |

What specific questions do you have? There are many here on OSO with experience operating and some on OSO who have designed, built, or modified stepped hulls.

Two of the biggest need to knows:
No negative trim while turning Dont cut the throttles while turning |
………..Cue the famous 7 person Fountain boat crash at LOTO……..

Take the Tres Course.
Ignore half the people on here and all of the people on facebook. |
Like Griff and Saris suggested. Tres Martin performance course. You'll have a one-day class learning all about straight hulls, step hulls, how trim and tab location effects them, what to do and what not to do...second day an instructor (I was fortunate enough to have him personally) will run your boat with you and then let you run it while he instructs you... Teaching you evasive maneuvers along with, trim locations and turning characteristics of your specific hull etc....EXCELLEMT course for beginners and even the guy who "knows" how to run a performance boat LOL.

Of couse...He could just buy a Velocity and not worry about steps.
