Looking to buy a 353 fastech!

Hey guys I am being offered a 2008 353 fastech from a friend of mine. Within the last 20 hours he has done Hardin marine headers. Bottom end refresh. Top ends and trans assemblies. Bravo XR drives with lantham steering. Comes with spare xr drive. Hull has 630 hours. Has an aluminum manning trailer as well. And the lighting paint. Garage kept…I would be coming out of a donzi 28zx scorpion boat. Also has dry tails on the new Hardin marines

I’m moving up a lot in boat if I choose to do this.

what are the pros and cons of a 525 boat ? Should this be trouble free for 200+ hours ? Any insight here would help. What would you think this kind of setup should/would cost? I appreciate any help or insight.

If you're comfortable with the work that was done and believe it was done by a reputable mechanic sounds like a killer boat. I don't have them, but I believe 525's call for topends at 250 hours, but I'm not sure.

I'd think 200+ hours i should be easy....

he has receipts for everything done by a reputable source.

Kind of a big jump in boat and don’t wanna get in too deep. I would be doing all of my own maintenance.

Isn't that the model that had the liner issues posted on here in the past?

200 to 250 hours is about right, depending on how hard you run it. When I got my 353 2 yesrs ago, I had both motors pulled and every maintenance item ( hoses, lines, coolers etc) replaced. Got it from a dealer so service history wasn't available. The engine compartment is tight and some things are almost impossible to get at. Like you , I came out of a smaller boat, a 25 outlaw , and I don't miss it. Sounds like you're good to go maintenance wise on that 353, extra drive is a bonus. I'd guess six figures is where it's at, based on what I've seen when I was looking.

yeah, this is kinda what I’m looking at. He replaced all of the trim tab, Ram lines. Etc all up the pumps. I’d have to pay 120k for it. Idk if that’s about what the market is on then.

You will love the move up. I went from a 25' Baja to a 353 FASTech. A big jump and I'm glad I did it. The difference is not comparable - you will understand once you do it.

120 is in the ballpark. Saw a 07 with 496s going for 110 in a boattrader email. I'd still get a survey done. There were threads on here about some having an issue with hull to deck bonding. Check for loose screws along the rubrail.

that’s not bad, I hardly keep things and wann eliminate losing my a$$ on this one hah. My father is a surveyor, so when it comes to checkin them out I have a pretty good idea myself. The hull to deck bonding sounds concerning.
