Anyone build up a 377 Scorpion to 400 HP+?
Anyone build up a 377 Scorpion to 400 HP+? What was the cost vs supercharging? What was the speed increase? I have a pair of em in a Sonic 30SS.

Ought to be able to get an easy 450 out of it. Check out the articles in Chevy Hi Performance magazine to get some ideas.

You might get most of that by ditching the stock exhaust manifolds and going to some Imco's or Stainless Marine. I feel that even putting 377hp through the stockers has to be about the limit for them, you'll save some considerable wieght too. You might pose this question to Dennis Moore over in the technical Q&A section......Doug

Engine mods will only give you 3-5 mph, not worth the time and money. Supercharging will give you 8-15 mph depending on boost. I would talk to Whipple.

I note although Whipple has talked about doing a supercharger for the scorpion for at least six months..it ain't happed yet. Anyone supercharge a stock scorpion? Any issues?

need to talk with Harry Clack, he has one in a Batboat.
Clackster is his board name |
Hp by the lb.
We have a B24 Mannerfelt Bat boat with the 377 82mph without the Whipple 103mph @ 6 lb. boost...........107.6@ 12lb.
With stock exhaust!!!! The boat needs a good exhaust system with 12lb.boost but no one makes a good header where I wouldn't hack up the boat to get good fit..You may not have that problem. 21mph bolt on!!! use the money you would spend on the exhaust for the Whipple....and yes they are available! but get the exhaust system if you plan to play the big boost game |
