I just recently had the oppertunity to go to Vermont and ride those....... Man, what a freakin blast:D :D

Sydwayz 12-02-2002 03:26 PM

I hate to say it, but any sled you are going to find for $250 is going to come from F.A.O. Swartz, or worse; and it is not going to have a motor.

What does a Semi Reliable sled go for?

Playn 12-02-2002 03:42 PM

HyperBaja,

Just an FYI but the absolute last thing you want in a sled is "semi reliable"

Look for a sled that has been well taken care of. Don't get a junker

THRILLSEEKER 12-02-2002 05:24 PM

HB, buy a quad, I know that they arent as fun as a sled but face it, we get enough snow around here to use a sled a few days a year maybe a week tops. Quads can be pretty fun with the small amount of snow that we get plus you can use a quad year round so when your boat is broke you can ride it.

Oh Yeah they are about the same price.

Good Thinking.... I bet it could pull an 18 classic 1/2 mile to the lake and back....

GO4BROKE 12-02-2002 06:11 PM

I bought a sled once for $200, then dumped $500 into it to make it decent. Keep looking, a coworkers friend just bought a 97 ski doo mxz 670 for $700!!!!! I had a 95 Formula SS 670 and it was a blast, I would have loved to nab that mxz for 700!

Rent one and you will buy one! Buy a junker and you'll be sorry! Think about wrenching on your boat on a body of water in 80 degree weather-minor inconvenience when you compare a snowmobile breaking down in the middle of nowhere with -40 windchills. Now add complete darkness on top of the cold temps along with a buz from the bar which was the warmest bar you could ever remember-does it sound familiar? Try it - you will love it, good luck and dont forget your tools! --Good luck, Snowchaser

I have one for sale.

1995 Polaris Indy XLT special 600

xlt =( extra light triple)

3200 miles

special =( 12" of travel in the rear !!!!! beats the 2" from a $250 sled!!!)

special also = factory fox shocks

triple cylinder 600cc. ( much smoother and less vibration on your hands than a twin cylinder)

brand new ski carbides ( makes you turn in an icy corner at 80mph!!)

brand new hyfax ( the slippery part riding on the track. one of the few wear out parts)

96 carbide studs ( gets you 0-60 in 2.3 seconds, and more importantly 60-0 just in time!!!)

will do 100+ on it's speedo (no, that's not GPS, but who cares)

asking $2300

will sell to any OSO member for $2100....

located south of Holland Michigan in the Allegan State Game area. you can even test ride it out my pole barn on 250 miles of state groomed trials.

to answer a question. a decent cared for mid 90's sled can be bought for $2000-$2600.

you can find an early 90's air cooled 340 or 400 for 1800 or so. kind of the bottom for good condition sleds. after that, get the wrenches out.
