Ultimate Offshore Boat

Heres a question I have. If money wasn't the main object, what new or late model boat would you buy if wanted to run in the oceans off the florida coast as well as the great lakes "safely" and be able to spend a week or more at a time aboard, (in a marina). Its got to be fast as well as dependable, I think it should be 40 + feet w/ twins or trips ? supecharged or not? 100 mph possible? I've not yet got to go off shore florida and want to in the near future.... what will it take?????

46 Black Thunder SC extended cockpit, with twin 1050's, #6's, and all the amenities. Checked one out in FLL and loved it. Especially for extended stays aboard.

O-Limit37 12-02-2002 06:38 PM

You said money was no object so..........51' Outerlimits w/ Sterling 1350's. It'll run in the 100's and it's equipped with a beautiful cabin. check out the pics at nationalmarine.com

50' Nor-Tech w/triple 1000's and #6's. Took delivery in July. It will crush all kinds of sea conditions, runs well over 100 mph,and has all the comforts for multi-day trips, a/c, gen., tv, dvd, etc.

You said "Ultimate", so here goes...

A friends 46 Skater that doesn't want any entry fees or gas money and will want to boat the same places I will.

Using the points off my credit card for a free week stay in a hotel room.

:D:D

Good luck, at some point, cabin space, trailerability and reliability will all battle each other out for a more important spot on the wish list.

HyperBaja 12-15-2002 12:04 PM

47' Apache
Tripp. 900SC

Yes , but how driveable is it ? Are you going to be able to take that Turbine powered boat out by yourself and head to the local bar/resturant ?

Waterfoul 12-15-2002 04:11 PM

What about the big Fountain with the big deisels and Arneson drives?? It's fast, pretty roomy for a Fountain, and what is more reliable than deisels and surface drives??

RumRunner 12-15-2002 05:04 PM

48 SuperHawk with 3 Turbo Charged SeaTek Deisels, and Shaft Drives. Very Reliable, good range, no Drives to break, and fast

Dredgeking 12-15-2002 07:13 PM

dreamer 12-15-2002 07:28 PM

Wardey 12-15-2002 08:40 PM

Gotta agree.....the 51' Outerlimits in this months Power Boat is nice. 110 mph in a 51 footer....Wow. But for 1mil !!!! Money's no objective, right. Wardey

formula31 12-15-2002 08:47 PM

Not one mention of a Cary?. I vote for the OL too.

DoTheMath 12-17-2002 11:08 AM

Hmmm, 51OL with triple Yanmar diesels & surface drives. Range, room, style, quality (in a big way!) & durability. What good is a big-a$$ boat if you need to take time out to fill it up every few hours and rebuild the motors every 40-50. This set up will let you run to the Bahamas, Keys and all over... with fewer fuel stops, less down time and more sunnin' & runnin'. :D

jb 12-17-2002 01:49 PM

Magnum, Cary........sport cruisers
Best of both
