4.3 V6. A little added stroke and compression, plus cams. At least it’s not too heavy.

Interesting approach to revamp a horsepower rating they already had vs. creating a higher HP option. Also, the Yamaha website boasts.
"The new, 4.3L V6 Offshore F350 offers the best power-to-weight in its class, coming in more than 65 pounds lighter than comparable outboards." Yamaha Specs(from their site) say the new motor is 629-653lbs. Merc. specs say the 350 Verado is around 668lbs. By my math thats less the 40 pounds. So I'm not sure how they make the above statement? Anyhow I'm all good for competition its great for the consumers. I'm just a bit underwhelmed with this. |
Mercury list the new 300 V8 at 527 lbs.
https://www.mercurymarine.com/us/en/...tem-ecb1fa09c4 The V-10 400R is 695lbs? https://www.mercuryracing.com/engines/r-series/400.html

Yamaha getting taken to the cleaners in the 400+ HP market....
|
not sure where they rate their hp either.... if memory serves me its at the crank and not at the prop...mercury has always kicks their aZZ on hp at the prop. I have and do own Yamaha as well as merc but remember if you want to get there first its Merc.... if you want to count on getting back its Yamaha LOL.
