Has the dealership always been named Cigarette Midwest??? Or is the owner completely new to being a boat dealer??
Looks like the owner owns a dock building company and marina??
Nothing in the bio about being a boat dealer?? Who We Are - Goldner Dock Construction

Does not say they own a marina. They build docks for and sell dock accessories to marina’s.

That’s how I read it, anyway.

I can’t figure out if people here are rooting for Cig success or not 😅

I would say most are rooting for the company to succeed but the owners to sell to someone competent. at this point even someone incompetent may be a step up.

The current owners are not the answer to Cigarettes long term success. When their stock scheme money runs out, CRT won't be able to survive on T shirt and hat sales. The fact that Performance Boat Center didn't move forward with the new owners is a huge red flag and subsequently there have been more red flags (failed mergers/deals/sponsorships). PBC probably sold more new Cigarettes in the last 5 years (pre-CRT sale) than any dealer in recent years. To lose them and their LOTO connections is insane. One of the biggest obstacles to boat buying is the dreaded trade in, PBC had a great used boat business which is going to be an issue for this new dealer in Oklahoma. Big Thunder has a dealership in Florida, I drive by it regularly and rarely see a new Cig out front. If the boat shows are in town, 1-2 boat show boats will show up as inventory after the show.

What you think you know may not be the real/whole story. BTM has never had an issue of acquiring/selling inventory and they sell WAY more boats than PBC. BTM has has dealerships in MO, FL (2) and NJ (Note: FL and NJ are under Iconic)

In today's modern boating industry/climate; a "dealership agreement" is basically a commitment to buy/build X number of boats in X amount of timeframe. AND that is backed by money from the dealership to the manufacturer. That basically guarantees the dealer build slots and support accordingly.

Given what Cigarette has looked like for the past couple years, I'd imagine they'd sign up two dealerships across the street from one another if the opportunity exists.

Typically, the relationships are already established, and then things get serious and a contract is drawn up, money exchanged, press releases, etc.

IF this were to create conflict with another dealer in a given range/territory; there could be pre-written language in the contract that would allow for an adjustment. But the manufacturer is typically going to make things work in a way that benefits them selling more boats, period. But the public never sees those contracts.

We may see more news in the future. We may not.
