why? how far apart do clothing stores need to be?

So? I wonder how long if you put in an order today before you would get it? BTM has numerous build slots already secured.

I do think it is interesting how he states he will be the only "Official" Midwest dealer when he is only few hours away from BTM and previous dealer PBC.

kinda what I was thinking too.

but then there is this quote “The Midwest is a vital market that has seen tremendous growth over the past several years—and yet there is a vast amount of untapped opportunity here for racing boats,”

racing boats? Hmmm. Ok.

BT had a lot of available slots last year but how many boats did they sell/deliver? Not being a smarta$$ I'm genuinely asking out loud if the move from PBC to BT paid off for Cig in terms of sales? Or will Matt's next article be about Cig pulling out from BT?

who knows. But I do know carrying the cig line isn’t gonna make or break any of those guys in loto.

Has the dealership always been named Cigarette Midwest??? Or is the owner completely new to being a boat dealer??
Looks like the owner owns a dock building company and marina??
Nothing in the bio about being a boat dealer?? Who We Are - Goldner Dock Construction

Does not say they own a marina. They build docks for and sell dock accessories to marina’s.

That’s how I read it, anyway.

I can’t figure out if people here are rooting for Cig success or not 😅

I would say most are rooting for the company to succeed but the owners to sell to someone competent. at this point even someone incompetent may be a step up.

The current owners are not the answer to Cigarettes long term success. When their stock scheme money runs out, CRT won't be able to survive on T shirt and hat sales. The fact that Performance Boat Center didn't move forward with the new owners is a huge red flag and subsequently there have been more red flags (failed mergers/deals/sponsorships). PBC probably sold more new Cigarettes in the last 5 years (pre-CRT sale) than any dealer in recent years. To lose them and their LOTO connections is insane. One of the biggest obstacles to boat buying is the dreaded trade in, PBC had a great used boat business which is going to be an issue for this new dealer in Oklahoma. Big Thunder has a dealership in Florida, I drive by it regularly and rarely see a new Cig out front. If the boat shows are in town, 1-2 boat show boats will show up as inventory after the show.

What you think you know may not be the real/whole story. BTM has never had an issue of acquiring/selling inventory and they sell WAY more boats than PBC. BTM has has dealerships in MO, FL (2) and NJ (Note: FL and NJ are under Iconic)

Sydwayz 01-31-2024 09:39 AM

In today's modern boating industry/climate; a "dealership agreement" is basically a commitment to buy/build X number of boats in X amount of timeframe. AND that is backed by money from the dealership to the manufacturer. That basically guarantees the dealer build slots and support accordingly.

Given what Cigarette has looked like for the past couple years, I'd imagine they'd sign up two dealerships across the street from one another if the opportunity exists.

Typically, the relationships are already established, and then things get serious and a contract is drawn up, money exchanged, press releases, etc.

IF this were to create conflict with another dealer in a given range/territory; there could be pre-written language in the contract that would allow for an adjustment. But the manufacturer is typically going to make things work in a way that benefits them selling more boats, period. But the public never sees those contracts.

We may see more news in the future. We may not.

DRAG 01-31-2024 09:51 AM

Always a debate of BT vs PBC. I’m rooting for them both. BT, PBC, whoever this new guy is in Oklahoma, Cigarette, the kid running it, the guy that can only buy their shirt, every other boat builder, all the people buying them. Rooting for the b*tches on those boats with their tts hanging out…I’m rooting for them all 🤣

DallasBAJA 01-31-2024 10:44 AM

The Black Diamond team will probably keep this dealer in business by themselves.

Knot 4 Me 01-31-2024 12:10 PM

I'm definitely not pitting PBC against BT. Know people at both dealerships (was a PBC customer, I've known Ed for years way before BT existed) and LOTO is lucky to have both there. Options are always a good thing to have.

caseyh 01-31-2024 12:15 PM

cig has always been a bit tight lipped on new builds. but its been even more so with the new owners. other the the few on social media the put out there its been quiet.
