Trading Toys?
 

Are there any sites out there that are focused on people trading big boy toys? Sometimes folks might be asset rich/cash poor or have a piece of depreciated equipment that they would rather turn into something fun. Buying and selling can be such a pain in the ass, and it might even be harder to trade, but it may be worth a look. It seems like after 3,4,5 years of playing with something, I am ready to change out for something different.

No idea but I will say the RV market has crashed. My buddy just bought a 45 Diesel pusher for 1/2 of what the previous owner paid in 2021. He said the lots are full and the buyers aren't interested anymore

not wrong, the after effects of the wuhan and cheap $ has began, 90+% of side by sides and golfcarts were financed in 2020 & 21. Cant answer to the RV/PWC/Boat market but we suspect its similar percentages. Anyone notice how many car lots are over-flowing with inventory especially the domestic brands.

I e been noticing the repo auction lots are pretty full lately

Last month I went to the National Powersports Auction in San Diego. There were side by sides as far as you could see (maybe 200 of them). One of the auction guys told me that most were repo'ed and just about all of them were rougher than a night in jail. They have 900-1100 each month between domestics, metrics, and off road stuff.

One of the major lenders in our area will not even look at a UTV loan right now.

The dealers like the 4-7 year old truck in good condition for trade. They are easier to sell than the new ones at those prices.

back to Jeff’s original question, it just seems like finding a value set match between two people who own assets without liens will always be difficult.

I’ve been wondering the same thing on a smaller scale - I want to trade a YFZ450 for a comparable dirtbike like a YZ250F, KX250F, SXF250, but I know if I post it I’m going to get a bunch of ass clowns who want to trade nonsense 20 year old bikes in need of a rebuild. I might try it anyways, but I’m not optimistic. Everyone thinks their stuff is gold.

I would for sure pursue the dealer option if you want to sell. I had no intention of selling my 19 F250 Limited with 60k miles last year when I stopped in to see a friend at the dealership. The sales manager saw me get out of the truck and asked if I would sell it. Knowing these things from the past I was like yeah look at it and give me a price, but your probably going to be way low. He litterally just walked around it and opened the drivers door to lookin and see the miles. Within 5 minutes he made an offer more than what the truck was new and cut a check on the spot. I'll keep on driving my 06 F350 King Ranch dually for towing the toy hauler and boat since its only got around 80k on it and is like new. If these prices stay like this it'll be a long time before I buy another new truck, especially since my old truck does everything I need it to with its upgrades.

Seriously, you should call my friend Aaron @ Outerlimits Powersports in Dyersburg,Tn if your in the market. Lots of big name sports figures and musicians buy from him regularly and he has units delivered all over the United States. They have some of the best deals in the market, as well as inventory on hand.

These prices are going to stay like this, there will be no going back, the metrics pre 2020 are no longer valid in todays economy. Doesn't matter what, its not going back in pricing. Global shipping is a mess, labor is tight and China is in deeper $hit than is being reported. That being said, there are a ton of positives with respect to data points outside the morons that were in charge of auto production thinking consumers would gobble up electric pickups and other EVs. Ford specifically takes the cake for lunacy, thats why dealers are writing checks, its "Cash for Clunkers" 2.0,, history repeats itself in the 3rd term of O'bama..................welcome back !!!

There are quite a few dealers now offering around 10k off sticker which is way better than we were and they have some good interest rates going as well. I know a few sales people have said alot of inventory has been on the ground way to long and its only 4 months til the new model year will be ordered.

Its pretty clear this will continue through this year, the supply problem with the chips that was a problem back in the wuhan has been largly corrected. There are not other issues with most other parts as they are now available domestically with respect to production. Cost of these cars and trucks is just not attainable for many and with the new labor agreements with the UAW the baseline production costs will go up. Just wait until China goes completley into the dumper, all the other cheap stuff we,ve been buying for years is gonna go up too.
