Seeking 575SCI Info
I’m looking to get input / pros and cons on the 575’s. I’m looking at a pair that are fresh rebuilds along with fresh rebuilt blowers from DMPE. Just looking for some input from ppl who have experience with these engines. I’m aware of the Eddie Young throttle body upgrade which is something I plan on doing. Is there anything else to know about or lack of parts availability with them? TIA

I dont have any experience with them, right or wrong, i would be hesitant to run those only from what i heard or read... subscribed to know more

Good engines. Basically a 502 TBI version of the 525SC. Pretty mild with Low compression, low boost and small cam. Like most roots SC engines, they are thirsty.

thank you for the reply! These are now 509’s with hyd roller cams, dart 320 heads. Do you know of any parts availability issues? |
I loved the one that I had. In stock form they have a flat tappet cam and iron heads. That looks like it has been addressed with these builds.. I believe the injectors are NLA, but with the YPM throttle plate update that isn't a problem. If DMPE just went through the blowers, I wouldn't be a bit afraid of them.

Finicky and Thirsty.
Brad Smith punched mine out to 509's and with a few other mods were close to 800HP. HP Mafia did the last tune, and they were more trouble free than ever. What drives do you have?? plan on upgrading lol |

So I was Eddie Young's guinea pig for the 575 throttle body/ injector plate setup. The prototype and tuning was done with my engine. Pretty much the only 575 specific issues that I had with mine in stock form was dripping injectors and it would need an IAC valve annually. The injector problems are solved with the new injector plate. It ran perfectly after the upgrade. I ended up building mine with a roller cam and brodix heads. The last time it was on the dyno, I believe it made around 760 hp with a smaller pulley. Overall a great engine and I never had any problem with sourcing parts. The sensors are the same as the rest of the Merc EFI engines and are also available from GM or auto parts stores. It uses a standard EST distributor that is available everywhere. I wouldn't hesitate to own a pair of 575's personally. I really like them for their simplicity and ease of upgrading.

Intake manifolds get eaten up. I just replaced both of mine "got them from Hardin Marine"-Merc is NLA. I have had two boats with them and have no major complaints--super chillers and Whipples bring them to life.
