I Need a Wood Burning Stove!!!!
Ok, all you northern boys I'm looking for a wood burning stove for my new addition, does anyone have one they want to sell, Thanks Mike:cool:
|
What? Did you move into the Garage? :D
Wood stoves are great! I kind of miss lighting a nice fire from years ago in Jersey. :) |
Do you guys down in Florida even have wood to burn?!:p
|
Vermont Castings is the best...
|
my parents have a wood stove in their family room an it is great. heres a little tip though. see if you have any local companies that make shipping pallets. they usually sell end cuts in 55 gallon drums pretty cheap. they come in small kindiling stuff up to these big 8x8x10 (or so) blocks and are seasoned hard wood. burns way longer than cord wood and stacks easier to. actually we use regular cord wood to get it go'n than throw on the hard wood.

I thought I was gonna get wise ass remarks, no Nick I'm not in the garage yet, we are putting a addition on the back of the house, kinda miss the fire on cold florida nights,
Evil, no we don't have regular trees here just palm trees:D |
Hmmm, I wonder how Palm burns. Must be a joy to split. Have you tried bamboom, I mean bamboo? :D
|
I've got a brand new stove I bought about 10 years ago for a house that I sold before I had a chance to install the stove. It's free standing and will heat a 4500 Sq. Foot house. I saw it in my storage the other day and was wondering what I would ever do with it. I think the mfg. is out of business but it's a really nice stove for somebody that needs it. I'll get some pictures and e-mail them to you.

hope to burn some wood today out in the boat;)
|
Why wood burning? Try a gas burning stove. The company Heat-N-Glo makes an excellect product. I don't have natural gas, but got one that runs on a propane tank. Heats the room quickly.
Heat N Glo |
Cold Florida mornings! Yet I hate it when I wake up and it is 60 degrees!:) When I woke up this morning it was -1 degree here in NY. The lake is starting to freeze over. I have a woodstove and I heat my entire house with it. Problem is I can't keep those darn palm trees alive long enough to cut down and burn!;)

You could try some of the potted ones at the local nursury.

Mike, I agree with Sean that a Vermont Castings is a great product. A very good friend of mine is a large dealer and will ship anywhere. If you have an interest in buying out of state, let me know and I will give you his number. Shane |
KenD, please pass on pics if you can.

Sorry I don't have one for sale.
What I wanted to say was, the idea of pallet pieces to burn is a good idea as long as it's all hardwoods and no pine, cedar, etc. You don't want to run the risk of a chimney fire. Been there, done that. I'll never forget the sight of flames coming out of the chimney cap and reaching 8ft. in height, nor the sounds it was making. |
