Even Madder Props—DCB Creates M37R Artwork For Second-Time Owners

Greg Harris and Yvonne Aleman aren’t just grateful for their new DCB M37R catamaran—they’re grateful to be members of the DCB customer-family, https://www.speedonthewater.com/even...d-time-owners/

Love the inclusion of green. Somehow of these kind of boats green makes it

Do the little wings on the motors do something, help air flow?

Yes and there are different companies that make different ones...and they can add some speed. Also controls some spray in salt water that causes issues off the factory cowl.

Also...great looking boat Greg. Its different than most, and looks good.

Just the way the air comes off the back of the factory cowl is very turbulent. I learned this from Myrick when we picked up a boat. All the different boat manufacturers are making different shaped fins or wings for the cowl with the main purpose of redirecting salt water spray, but some change the aero enough to let the boat get through the air a bit better. It was a carbon WP that runs 135 with 450s and without the fins you get quite a bit of turbulence. From the few runs we have done light on fuel and up at those kind of speeds it seems like its a mph maybe a touch more.

Thanks everyone. Sorry for delay in responding, but we were in OshKosh for our first run with the boat.

The DCB team killed it on the new build. Just amazing.

The cowling wings are a different idea on controlling exhaust reversion on the 450/500 boats. Most of the ideas have been to add in scoops to collect more fresh air from the front and force it in. The wings are designed to jet away the exhaust completely. They seem to work well because there is zero soot on the rear of the motors. I was told they looked to have much cleaner rear air by some of the boats running with us and other 450/500 boats in the run.

Great looking boat, BadA$$ beautiful. Can you comment on the direct comparison between the 450 / 500 performance?

Thank you.

We are not running comparable props(yet) but I can definitely say the mid-range and turning are noticeably better on the 500s. The skeg/lower seem to really upgrade the handling. The real tests will come at Boyne and LOTO in a few weeks after the regular props arrive.

For us the new boat is exceptional, and we are proud to own another DCB work of art.

SKammeraad 06-25-2024 04:02 PM

thats just such a good looking boat. sad i cant make boyne this year and wont be able to check it out
