Klaw, the Trent Severn is my play ground. If you come up here to do some boating, just let me know and I'll point ya to the good spots. Truth is,the upper section from the Rice Lake to Georgian bay is the nice part. You will get a kick out of the two lift locks and the marine railway ride. Forget the lower part unless you like driving in a ditch from lock to lock. Yes,"The Bay" can be a hair raising experience, especially when a big west wind is blowing. Nothing like trying to find marker boys between granite islands in 12 foot following seas :)

Bayley, only about 10,000 on my side of the border :)

However, we do have Gordo's boat. It's been on several lakes around the world. He can post that list. I'm sure I'd forget a few.

klaw 12-06-2002 07:48 AM

Airpacker,

I used to bein Toronto quite a bit. I dated a girl who lived in Aurora.
The main reason I wanted to do thetTrent was the lock system some amazing engineering.
I may try to move the trip up to next summer.
I would dropin around Makinaw and run across.
when does the season start to open up around you?

Klaw

jafo 12-06-2002 09:03 AM

Gary-
If you put in at Mackinaw for a trip over, you owe it to yourself to see the North Channel and Manitoulin Island. I have been boating that area my entire life (the family has had property on Manitoulin since the mid-fifties). The scenery is breath-taking.
