Mercruiser Bravo Drive Continuous Alarm
I have a continuous alarm. I have topped up the Drive Oil and the alarm is still sounding.
Any suggestions? Thank you |
If the bottle went empty the float is probably stuck on the bottom of the reservoir. Take the cap off and fish around in there gently with a screwdriver or your finger.

Disconnect the lube bottle to see if it stops
If it doesn't disconnect the temp switch and then oil pressure switch. The oil and temp switches have 2 wires on them and have a Tan/Blue striped wire on them |
Alarm sounds for low oil pressure, high water temp, and low drive oil.
I've found the oil can "gunk up" in an old drive oil bottle and while the level looks good, the oil does not flow at all. Empty/clean out that bottle and replace with fresh fluid. |
What is the powertrain setup? If it is Smartcraft enabled, best thing to do is hook it up to a Rinda or similar scanner to find out why the computer is sounding the alarm.
This is no different than troubleshooting a CEL on your car without scanning the OBD port. |
Those Bravo drive lube bottles need to be cleaned every few years. The get chunky. Agreed, disconnect alarm ass see if that solves it. I believe the float simply grounds it and causes the alarm to engage…..
