Merc 496 HO EFI Fuel filter?
 

I have a pair of 496 HOs - got a bad tank of fuel and sucked crap through fuel separator (Aux) and into the engine mounted fuel filter. Replaced both, dumped old fuel best I could (tanks have baffles) and engine turns but never fires.I can hear the pump priming and it stops after a few seconds. Also check fuel flow so not vapor locked or tank vent related.

IS there another fuel filter I am not aware of like the sneaky one in a carb?

Hope I didnt clog up injectors somehow.

did you fill the filter before reinstalling ?

yes - and the one I replaced was full as well so fuel is pumping. I need to check electricals - replaced ignition since I lost a key (dont ask) in the drink. Might have a loose wire.

NEw ignition switch is 1/4 inch longer than original as seems to be grounding out on throttle assembly behind the dash. Gonna take some boat yoga to get to it but hoping that is the issue - starter turns but possibly no power to engine cpu etc.
