Turbine drive line "Flash Gordon"

When the turbine powered cat "Flash Gordon" was at the shootout this year, I notice what looked like a Kevlar drive belt used in sort of a drop box configuration to transfer power to the drive.
I'm looking at a project where a configuration like this would be useful. Does anyone know a source for these types of belts and pulleys? I'm looking for high hp applications. Are these belts used on drag bikes?

He uses them instead of a conventional gearbox. He uses the t T53 powerplant at approx. 1500hp. How much hp are you planning on running?

GE-T58, nearly 1400hp. Any good sources for those drive belts? Online?

Gates kevlar cog belts - 125mm. Go with steel pulleys rather than aluminum. Blowers use alum pulleys but in your marine application they'll eat the kevlar belts.

Thanks tachyon,
Easier to find than I thought.

Did you ever see the 25' daytona he had before that? He had an 1800hp diesel turbine in a V drive!! How he managed to get that right is beyond me. Nice looking boat and ran great. I would have loved to have had it. I think it ran faster that his 36'.

I first saw the 25 turbine at Texoma. He was breezing around at 100+ all the way around the lake while kicking back. I saw him in it many times at Lavon. It was advertised to run between 150 and 160mph in the back of Powerboat. I think he was asking ~135k Not bad considering what it was capable of. Sweet package.

It was cool to see him start it up and back it off the trailer. It had everyone in the marina staring at it. It had a little two bladed prop on it and ran very flat. Had about a two foot diameter exhaust pipe that exited at about a 45 degree angle through the deck/transom joint in the rear. Apparently someone farther north bought it. Heck, he/she may be on this board!
