Englewood Races
 

Just got a notice from Manasota Key resort / Wannabe that my reservations are canceled due to the hurricane damage. Didn’t think there was that much damage. Can’t get in touch with anyone at the resort. Might be too early to ask, but are the races still on ? Also, any suggestions for hotels in the area for rebooking ? I’m sure most are booked and probably expensive at this point. If the races are still taking place, maybe stay out of Englewood and just drive both days. Ideas or suggestions approved. Thanks

I would call the hotels in Venice Florida (15 minute drive Englewood Beach) on Jacaranda Boulevard near route 75 or consider the SunSeeker Resort on the Peace River in Punta Gorda (a 20 minute drive to Englewood Beach).

Both of my suggestions are not adjacent to Englewood but they are reputable properties/hotels

Thanks Smarty for your suggestions. I was looking at Venice and ended up just booking at Fairfield Inn there. Figured can’t go wrong with Fairfield and Venice is a little closer than the Sunseeker. Are you familiar with the Fairfield Inn area ?

I booked a condo on the beach. So far it looks like a go.

The area is nice, nothing unusual, just lots of senior citizens.

That’ll work, just looking for a place to sleep that’s clean. I’ll fit right in, I’m 67, lol 😂

The Event was , sadly, just cancelled.

Just saw that, was really looking forward to going. Haven’t been to that area before. Been to the races at Key West, Ft Myers, of course Atlantic City and Pt Pleasant, where I’m from. Anyhow, look forward to going to a few next year
