Cool boat. Seems like the M6 is way overkill, though, isn't it? an XR or SC would have been sufficient, wouldn't it? And way cheaper?

Thanks. Brad.

That thing throws more water than all 3 of my jet boats, COMBINED, I think. :D

A buddy just bought a new 18 foot flats boat, with electronics, power pole and trolling motor it was well into the 6 figure range.

This Velocity is 300K USED, wonder what it sold for new.

Mercury will not sell the 700's with a XR drive. Remember this was a OEM build.

Well how fast does a 32 pitch go? Are M6 one typical ratio?

97-110mph,,depending on slip and gear ratio.

What I would guess. A number of single velocities with superchargers are around that.

This being a carbon VR-1 gives it a big advantage though.

NO!
Read all the threads on XR gear failures.
That # 6 on there is pure peace of mind.

What he said.
The 700's used to get NXT drives. I think they are discontinued.

Cheech,

So, what's an M6 cost? More than an SCX? Is there just nothing between the XR and the M6? Is the SC a parallel to the XR?

Thanks. Brad.

Two things Brad,

As far as I know as a OEM builder Mercury will not sell you a 700 with no drive, I THINK. I could ask Scott if it really helps.

The SC is the XR gears in a stronger case, so you still get the pitting and failure.

The SCX has larger gears, cone clutch etc. But still uses a cone clutch means for forward reverse. It is a very good drive if you have a bravo boat that you have upgraded power since you do not have to move the motor, change cutout things like that.

M6 uses a transmission. Also the whole helmet and such is much much stronger and I think the dry sumps use less power then a SCX.
