MDM,
I always thought the "twin hull" concept for fishing boats was more about maintaining a level stance with everybody on one side of the boat while fishing. No? Thanks. Brad. The tunnel boats are probably much more sensitive to weight and load too. |
Except for the hull design, how is this a “game changer”?

While the stability when off plane is a benefit of both designs, they are still very different as to speed and performance. The air entrapment cats, (Skater, MTI) pack air in the tunnel and are partially "flying" on air while at higher speeds. The cat "fish boats" (Freeman, Invincible) don't pack air and don't "fly". They do however split the wave by using two thinner hulls to divert the water, which allows them to plow through with a better ride. Also, an MTI is much lighter than a Freeman and the MTI is much more weight sensitive, like an airplane. Obviously, air entrapments are much faster. The Statement is more like a Freeman in hull design but has the looks of a sport center console.

Does the Statement cat ride like your Doug Wright?
I just said I thought it looked like a Freeman. Nice looking boat. Joe |
