Is there really that much too it that you have to find someone special to do it? Can't you just trailer the boat up to the local lube shop for a fuel injector service?

what exactly does your local lube shop do when you ask them for a fuel injector service?

A bad injector didn’t do this, but it’s definitely on the menu with one. Gonna wanna be sure they’re in good shape.

Thanks. Brad.

They hook them up to the same machines the dealerships use. I haven't done it, but am considering it.
What exactly do these referral's do that is so ground breaking?

Why dont you call Smitty and get your answer first hand

If you're in PA and want to stay semi local, marren fuel injection does fantastic work.
They come back clean and with a complete data sheet including off times etc.
Your local lube shop will not give you that. from their website- Your fuel injectors are the best place to find new power for your motor!

Getting Your Injectors Balanced & Blueprinted

Here is what we do:
  • Get a base line reading on them as they came out of the engine.
  • Information is downloaded into a computer (flow rates are in CC per minute).
  • Check spray pattern and reverse flow to check for contaminants.
  • Strip down the injector.
  • As it is being ultrasonically cleaned, the injector is opened and closed at a desired pulse width with a programmable fuel management system.
  • Injector is checked for any remaining cleaner.
  • Injector is brought up to a certain temperature and checked with a strobe to see the fuel atomization.
  • Electrical windings in the injector are checked with an oscilloscope and an ohms test performed.
  • Three hydraulic tests are performed before and after cleaning.
  • Perform a Leak Down Test
  • Install new pintle caps, o-rings and in-line filters
  • Supplied with a Computer Analysis Sheet
Once the process is complete, the key is for all the injectors to be within 0-2% deviation of one another. They should not exceed a 4% range between one another. The process improves:
  • Flow which is critical under high rpm in relation to horsepower
  • Fuel Atomization which contributes to the torque rise in the motor

No way I would trust a local lube shop to pull injectors out of my boat.

Lots of people cooking in restaurants out there too. They all have ovens/stoves.

So, yeh, what difference does it make. Sarcasm :)

So,,,,no. Many different injector machines out there and some much more capable and precise than others. Then, you have the operator and operators knowledge base and experience.

I second Marren , they sent back the sheets with before and after performance for each cyl

The tech also mentioned there was a lot of stabil in the old fuel in the injectors which was true as I had not run it much for a few years

underpsi68 03-01-2025 10:45 AM

I sent my 496 injectors to BUP. He did a good job. Sent videos of before and after as well as sent me the old filters and Q tips he used.

I have since bought my own cheaper injector machine. It isn't on the same playing field as the commercial machines but it does give me good data. A problem injector shows right away.

On my street car i run e85. The bosch 210lb injectors i use are very sensitive for e85 to sit in them unused. Now I pull the injectors out and check them myself. It has been working very good for me.

Again Not BUP, John Mossetti, he doesnt do any of the repairs, farms it all out and there was a fall out with the guy that actually fixes them.... all of a sudden he`s "too busy" to take on any more ECU repairs. Yeah , because the guy that actually fixed em told him to go pound sand.
He`s a pathological liar.

John fixed my Mefi for $500 and turned it around in a week.
