Mercury Racing Adds Altitude Propeller Line

A new option, https://www.speedonthewater.com/merc...ropeller-line/

How do you have through hull exhaust on a outboard boat? For that matter can you open the exhaust on the new outboards?

Quote “outboard-engine-powered boats with thru-hull exhaust.”

And cost of these? Lol

Probably meant thru hub, not thru hull.
mistakes happen.

The new outboards have valves that allow you to open the exhaust a bit.

Maybe a thru-hull outboard exhaust kit is in the works at Mercury Racing and someone spilled the beans. Good spot! :boat:

It's called "sport mode" or sport exhaust on the newer OB's. It just a silent choice type of diverter in the mid section that lets the exhaust exit through a port above the water line. All for noise and zero performance gains. Really only effective at idle for the rumble. Don't hear much difference when running.

Cool though. With my V10 it makes my slip neighbors turn there heads when I fire it up.

Yeah. Like techman said. Controlled through VesselView.

I wonder if the thru hull exhaust will route the exhaust into the boat, or if it will be routed back out again…

I bet that would sound pretty cool,

CheckmateScarab 03-03-2025 12:47 PM

Older mercury 2 strokes used to have "idle relief" exhaust slots above the waterline to reduce backpressure

Hub ... my typo. So sorry fixing.

I know but the responses were fun!

Nope. Just didn't delete it completely. :)

Curious if anyone has gotten hands of these yet, its been a year since they were announced and no one seems to have ever seen them firsthand and none are for sale anywhere. Of course, you can submit a question to mercury and get signed up for the email spam but never have them actually reach out with info 🙃. Seems like an ideal match for my Nordic.

🤦🏻‍♂️

Someone should duct tape some bilge hose to the exhaust port on these OBs, run it back into the boat to a nice set of $2000 tail pipes, then back out through the hull. Respect.

Call and talk to Nick Petersen. He runs the propeller dept. for Racing. Great guy and very knowledgeable-he will follow up with you and is a passionate boater himself.

I'll second that recommendation Joe, Nick is the best prop guy Mercury has had since the days of the dynamic duo of Dennis Cavanaugh (RIP) and Brett Anderson. Nick has been super helpful to me for everything from 5-blade Cleavers for M6s to Rev 4s for some old Alpha 1 drives. He has a wealth of knowledge and is more than willing to share it with whatever setup you're wanting to get the most out of. :boat:
