Skater 28 Cats Star In Sporty Second-Day Outing
An excellent ending for an outstanding event, https://www.speedonthewater.com/skat...nd-day-outing/

Unfair Advantage
Matt great job on the coverage and quick posting. Although you missed mentioning that one of the participants was a former offshore icon….Jimmy Speros……and definitely an unfair advantage to all since he was running his boat restored and rigged by himself.
From running many races with the legend Art Lilly, owned and operated his own rig shop, worked for 2 Premier Rig Shops in the northeast and garnered several world championships, his exploits are Legendary. In fact his story would make a great article to add to this media library. I know Jimmy has many many incredible stories to share although he is so modest he may shy away from the spotlight. Imo it’s worth a shot |
That orange/silver/white 308 is gorgeous!!!

About every winter I think about selling our 28 Skater, but articles like this make me think otherwise. I am sure there are boats out there that are just as fun, but these things are amazing little hotrods! Love seeing the pics!

Good to see that new 28s are still being built, as used ones seem to get harder and harder to come by.

If you have never driven one, DO NOT DO IT! You will be hooked and you will waste all your time on the internet looking for used 28"s!

The 28 we built (factory triple) with x3 2.5OS is to this day the most fun ive ever had running a boat. The 45 to 90 was painful and with the 3rd lower dragging it decelerated quick too. Short burst were a blast. It sill holds an APBA endurance record. 28s are so much more capable than people think.

We had a 91' (factory built) 24' with triple 2.5s. I understand everything you experienced and then some lol....The 24s and 28s were way ahead of their time. Absolutely priceless memories were created-
Most recent 28 that we had in the fleet (I do miss it) https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...24d363a56c.jpg Joe |
