Versatile as a mo fo.

I see a few of them around our area and have always wondered how they run. The interior layout is better than most center consoles and they offer a decent entertaining area, but can they handle rough water?

That's a great question, but starts by defining rough water. I have friends from Texas that have taken theirs in the gulf of America along Orange beach. and they were fine.

Different and also a nice looking boat in my opinion. Serves a lot of different purposes while on the water. BUT the only way I would buy it is I could afford 2 boats, and that ain’t happening in my lifetime, especially since I’m turning 68 soon. I’m on my third Baja and could never be without some type of performance inboard go fast boat. Just ain’t happening. I need the ability to go drive my boat hard and fast, as opposed to slow and comfortable. My buddy sold his 25 Outlaw and bought a nice cc with a 300 merc. Liked it for a few months and now regrets selling it. I got a few friends who got a cc and a nice bow rider, go out with them and think that it’s definitely not me. But to each his own. By the way, just bought a 2021 bright yellow Mustang convertible GT, also need some excitement while driving on land.

There is a dealer nearby and there are a ton of them out on the water. There are now a couple competing brands with the similar look Nimbus and Saxdor are two of them.

Dissenting opinion ahead.

We came very close to getting into an Axopar. We researched them to death and spent a lot of time looking at the various layouts and demo rides They are fun to drive and are really cool looking.

However, we decided against it because of the overall build quality. They are cheap for a reason. One or two year old Axopars showing some alarming corrosion on anything metal, super thin fiberglass work throughout (cracking/crazing) and the cheapest of parts throughout (entry level electronics). Take a look at the used market....it is DEEP with inventory that is barely used. So, I would strongly suggest anyone considering one, take a look at a used one first.

We ultimately went Nimbus.....similar Nordic styling but build quality (and price) are on another level.

They appear to be a fairly narrow beam making me wonder about the side to side stability. I have always thought that they looked pretty cool. Nice article.

Our really good friends have a 37 cross cabin and love it, we will be on it this weekend actually. I think they are a great concept and have an appeal, they are personally not my taste but a cool boat none the less but it depends on how many you put on it too. I think 2-3 couples is good on one but more than that IMO you are either out back, up front or inside, hard for everyone to be in the same space with the Capt. so a little impersonal for me. Then again I am a dock/rope b!tch right now so I can't complain lol.

11’ of beam and only 20* deadrise. Should be very stable, I’d be concerned about the ride though.

From what ive seen they’re built to punch through the swell. There’s a video of one coming into haulover and totally “stuffs” but that’s kinda what they’re built to do. Pretty cool. There’s videos online about how you need to run them different than a traditional boat.

I looked at this Brabus edition at the 2024 Miami show. It was a left over 2023 and could’ve gotten it cheap. I liked the looks and functionality.

great design on a closed bow, they want to go through the waves so efficiently comes from not rolling up and over... simple way to think about it is a standard v hull rides on a sin wave, this one rides flat line, so the distance is shorter from a to b. I still can't understand them with am open bow. Puts passengers at risk. There are some pretty violent videos of people getting hurt. Look at that hull design on coast guard, pilot boats, etc and the bow is sealed and locked down and they generally are pilot house designs because it stops everyone from getting blasted by water

100% agree! Especially in ocean conditions where things can get snotty pretty quick. Another reason we passed on the brand, the open bow in a "adventure boat" makes no sense. The open transom design is also something to be wary of.

The "made for stuffing" is all fun and games until this happens

I like the blunt bow design on a 1933-1938 Chris Craft runabout lake boat, but detest the Axopar design for inlet and ocean operation.
