A very careful assessment needs to be done of the carrying capacity of what boaters are willing to pay before boaters abandon The Bahamas because of what they can’t afford. It can’t be a licence to print money and boaters say, we’ll abandon The Bahamas. I’ve spoken to people at Black Point, Staniel Cay who have restaurants. They say that if those boats abandon us because they’re forced out, they’ll be severely impacted.
What Carey may have been too polite to say is that cruisers as a whole are a parsimonious lot. Groceries, liquor and fuel are already 30 percent higher in the Bahamas compared to the U.S. Dockage is very expensive, too.

That is the biggest problem with their new fee plans ^^^^^

We are the Mom and Pop international cruisers since 2015. We departed the Bahamas this past May, 2025 and will not be returning. Between the 20 USD per day dinghy landing fees in Nassau, and the anchoring fees in the Exumas park, no need for us to return.

$ 1650 is Pennies to most high dollar cruisers these days and if your going for more than a month it’s still a good deal for almost any cruiser all things considering . It’s just the money grab so that will eliminate a few on principal and then the monthly visitors will cut back since you only get two entries.

The anchorage fees for foreign pleasure vessels, not mooring at a marina,
shall be, for a vessel ––

(c) exceeding one hundred feet in length, one thousand, five hundred

Yeah since the cruising/fishing permit is only good for 2 visits in 30 days (used to be 90) most people who go there a lot will get the value in the frequent visit card (unlimited visits for 2 years).

The Frequent Digital Cruising Card (FDCC) has been in effect since 2021. It's sstreamlines the entry paperwork.

Fees for the Frequent Digital Cruising Card (FDCC) vary by vessel size: $1,500 for boats up to 34 feet, $2,500 for boats between 34–100 feet, and $8,000 for vessels over 100 feet.
As far as I can tell. The fees above seem to only be entry fees. An outgoing fee (leaving the Bahamas) of $75 is not included. The other fees like fishing permits, Anchorage fees, etc are not included. Maybe the US boaters should impose a 50% tariff on the Bahamas... ..

Bulls1t. I took my boat over there for the first time 10 years ago when I was 30 and was still a regular paycheck working guy making Boat payments. The cruising fee did matter and it was only for a weekend trip because me and my buddies all had to go back to work. Lots of people that live in South Florida and have a similar situation to mine cruise over to Bimini regularly.
