Sterling Engines - New Owner Intro
Hi all - It was suggested to me that I should introduce myself here and let you all know that Sterling Engines is under new ownership.
My name is Cade Wilson, I'm a longtime aerospace and autosport guy, (Rocketdyne, Senior Aerospace, GM, longtime auto racer) and now joining all y'all in the boating world. I am also a veteran, with experience in both Army (enlisted) and Navy (officer, commissioned via USNA in 2000). I purchased the company from Mike D'anniballe in May and have been working hard to learn the business and to improve things. I'm fortunate to have an absolutely amazing team of guys here with decades of experience. We have lots of stuff planned and a new website in the works. In the meantime, we continue to provide rebuilds, upgrades, and full custom engines for anything with pistons. I'm eager to make some new friends, to learn as much as I can about your needs, and of course to help in any way that I can. And of course, thank you to our existing customers - and I welcome conversations with others wondering what makes Sterling special. Website should be getting an update within the month - it still has the old stuff for now, but I'll let y'all know when it's online. SterlingEngines.com and 248-684-5040. Thanks in advance for letting me play a part. Cheers, Cade PS - to the mods - I'd be interested in talking vendor sponsorship. Feel free to reach me: [email protected] |
Welcome to OSO and Congrats on the purchase of Sterling.
This is the last contact info I have about advertising on OSO. Not sure if it is still the correct contact though. Stefanie Torrez Sr. Sales Manager, Travel & Leisure Ph: (714) 420-6824 Fax: (310) 280-4763 Email: [email protected] Another option is to purchase a Commercial Membership. Click the Membership tab near the top of the page to learn about it. |
Welcome to OSO!
Sterling is a legendary brand. It will be interesting to see how you stay relevant when facing the turnkey QC4V packages from Mercury. |
Congrats and welcome!

Congrats! Welcome Cade!

Congratulations on the purchase of a well respected business. Your next challenge will be to uphold the reputation that Mike and his team has earned. Best of luck to you. :ernaehrung004:

Thank you! I am actually excited to see some 4V development in this world. I'm sure we'll have our hands on one or more before too long. The only concern I have is pricing - I just quoted out a pair of 1350 engines to a customer under 130k each. I might not be charging enough. ha.
The elephants like Mercury leave plenty of room for mice like us to play, and they drop plenty of scraps. We tend to be a bit more nimble as well. Just as GM has Lingenfelter and Ford has Roush, the aftermarket leaves lots of opportunity for us to do things when customers want variation and creativity beyond box stock. The trick is not getting stepped on - Mercury's push for spec class racing in P1 definitely hurt us as many owners left SuperCat. I'm all for spec racing, but let's keep support for some creative classes as well. Same problem we've seen in the autosport world. |
That’s the right attitude!
As you say, there is a lot of room below Mercury’s pricing umbrella. Looking forward to seeing what will come. |
Cade, I sent you a private message (PM). Let me know if you get it. There is normally a 10 post minimum (for spam prevention) to send and receive PM's but I believe you Commercial Membership my bypass that

Welcome to the scene Cade. Always nice to have more options and competition.
