Really none of my business but being me I will ask anyway I was told by my agent if I took my cat out on a track I am not covered from flag to flag.. Is that true on something of that level? are all race boats rolling zillions of dollars uninsured during that time?? Oh yea Tom, you promised me a ride about a year ago:confused: I have a CDL and am just down the road... want me to tow it to Key west for new years and get it all warmed up and dieled in for ya:rolleyes: (hey, you don't think I could start a TOTALY serious thread do ya?);)

bet there are a lot of people who's boat is paid for and they don't have insurance, my main reason is to protect my loan.

glassdave 12-10-2002 07:52 AM

they have the same coverage that you guys had on the funny car :D :D

packinair-

Sad but true, no insurance from flag to shining flag. Better just hope you win and then flip over on the victory lap... the win would take a little of the sting out of the burn.

glassdave 12-10-2002 08:03 AM

hey chris . . i bet its evan more fun having a half a dozen guys racing YOUR uninsured boats huh . . . :D :D

Madcow 12-10-2002 08:07 AM

If you don't have insurance while racing how do you manage liability?

Shane 12-10-2002 08:12 AM

I only carry liability insuance on my Skater and Formula. However, I have a TON of liability. I would rather save my premium dollars toward a new boat. I am fortunate that both my boats I paid cash for, but then again, they are not worth a FRACTION of Tom's 46!

cobra marty 12-10-2002 08:34 AM

So if you flip after the finish and you won, then the race is over and you are no longer racing and hence you are covered?

packinair 12-10-2002 03:22 PM

I can not imagine even moving my boat without full coverage on it..so you save the premium but if something happens your turbo-screwed?

mr_velocity 12-10-2002 04:16 PM

Most boats have coverage when on the trailer and possibly testing. No ceverage during a race. I believe that there may be a carrier that has race insurance on a per race basis, I believe the cost is 10% of the boat value per race.

cigarette1 12-10-2002 04:23 PM

Are you paying for any insurance when you pay the race registration fees?

46tomcat 12-10-2002 05:22 PM

the registration fees cover the liabilty but not the boats even with the race insurance your on your own on race day. it covers theft and liability till its in the water, packinair just make sure your ride is not on the race course.see you in the spring and yes i still owe you good to hear from you

cigarette1 12-10-2002 05:29 PM

Really ... there is no liability or theft coverage once your boat is IN the water. That doesn't seem right. What if someone falls off the dock and bumps their noggin on your boat, APBA/SBI doesn't cover you?

I have see that thing run on the course, I am going no where near that boat in fear of being sucked into some sort of vortex and wind up in a parellel universe when you go by ..... Fasest boat I have seen in person. I guess when everyone is that far behind you it really isn't a problem worring about a collision.

:D
