What is a Stock Prop for Checkmate 253
The prop I got works fine most of the time. Tubing not so much. Its what I believe to be a labbed Bravo 26p. I dont know much about props so correct me if Im wrong from what u see in pic. Id like something that gets on plane earlier and more torquey if thats possible. I dont need top speed for tubing so not concerned. Id like just a cheapo for the more shallow lakes I go to. Not to hard to switch between the two.
I dont even know what stock one would have been. Maybe it was this IDK. Its a 1997 Checkmate Convincor 253 with the blue Merc in it. I have no idea what the numbers mean other than the 26p. Suggestions? Thanks, Chris https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...a2c7f6b4e4.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...1ffa7ac53f.jpg |
496BB,
Are there numbers stamped on it anywhere else? Opposite side? Rear hub? What's your drive ratio? Thanks. Brad. |
Only numbers on there. Drave ratio is whatever stock is as far as I know.
Thx, Chris https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...fc9ca76a8c.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...563d711a35.jpg |
Looks stock to me unless its had cup added, that rpm are you spinning @ wot ? what blue engine 500 efi ?
|
500HP carb. Looks to have material taking off on thickness of blades.....idk honestly. Just trying to buy a stock one that has better hole shot and tq. This ones good for top end it appears. Again this is a new to me boat so Idk.
It will spin to 5000 5100 rpm planed out. Cant plane it too much (as in not much numerically below 7 on gauge) or it washes out. I dont run it this hard though as I want to do valve springs and lifters before I do. |
496BB,
What makes you think it's labbed? Thanks. Brad. |
Get your hands on a 24p four blade to try. I'm sure that'll get you close to what you're looking for.
|
I dont. Just what someone had said. I honestly don't know anything about these so I trust you more than what this dude said. Just looking for something more whole shot worthy cheap one.

Typically, the prop shops will stamp their nomenclature on the prop somewhere. This gives them some traceability if the prop ever comes back to them, or, in this would-be case, someone bought it and wanted to know what was done to it. If you don't see anything like this, it's likely a stock prop. Thanks. Brad. |
