Quick Take—A Skater 438 Kind Of Ozarks Morning

Sometimes a bigger boat than you think you need makes great sense, https://www.speedonthewater.com/quic...zarks-morning/

Not many people realize how good those big Skaters ride. If more big money guys went for rides in big inboard Skaters before buying, they wouldn't be buying MTIs. I've been in an MTI 48/1350 rig on LOTO during the shootout weekend and the ride was horrible in comparison to a Skater. The wide, shallow tunnel and narrow sponsons of the MTIs cause excessive tunnel-slap in the big, mixed-up water that the Skaters just run over without ever feeling the tunnel touch. It's a Skater thing, people that haven't been in them in nasty water just don't understand..........

Bold statement for sure. When Summer O was around when he changed to the mti 48 he said the ride was noticeably better at LOTO. I’ve owned neither though so I can’t debate. But it does seem crazy that so many more Mti 48’s are sold over Skaters if the ride were worse or any lesser of a boat.

All I can tell you is my experience; I was bounced out of my seat in the back twice on a short trip back from PBC to Ronnie's house at MM21. I've ridden in the back seats of numerous Skaters - 368, 388, 40, 438 and 46 - and never been bounced out of my seat. It's a funny world, this offshore powerboat scene, because I've also heard the exact opposite that Skater customers who buy an MTI come back to Skater because they say the ride quality is better. Let's face it, they're both great boats, it's all just a matter of opinion of which one you'd rather own.

It is natural for everyone to think their product is best.
