Honda civic reliable ? Common Phil.
I`m not going to get into a pissing match but OB are honda civic reliable BBC`s are Ford 6.0 Diesel reliable if you`re exteremely lucky.
Now I`m talking about running the boat almost every weekend like I do.
I see guys at the marina asking why I`m always fixing stuff, their stuff never breaks.
The thing they don`t mention is their boat is a dock or trailer queen. I see em leave for 20 minute ride per weekend and back on the lift it goes. Then they sit on the dock boasting how their engine builder is the best .. lol Stuff doesn`t break when you don`t use it? Who knew!! GTFO

for the level my boat is at, last year I used the balls off it. Every weekend like a pontoon boat owner ? No. That’s exactly my point. I have other boats to go on the water. I don’t need to use my hot rod every weekend. Exactly why people don’t daily drive their McLaren? Of course **** will break? Duh.
last year idk, I burned a dozen tanks of fuel in the 3 months we had. Running hard. I’m not saying it’s reliable by any means. But I have had good luck? Yes… if I held it to the tin every GD weekend, I’m sure I would be broken all the time. Well I’m not. I’m not out here beating my chest about how much I boat, how many miles I do. I use my boat to make the hair on my neck stand up. And that’s it. I have a dozen other hobbies. My boating is just one … lol if you need a single boat to fix every fancy by all means …..

Duramax I figured up several weeks ago I think to run 200 at A .75 mile shootout you have to average 150mph for 18 seconds on the sliding sliding scale of keeping an engine glued with say 50 lbs of boost. Have a couple of 2JZ motors in the floor at the shop in case I build a hotrod, but safety comes first. Guy ran 134 in a 25 Daytona years ago. I know him. Drag Racer. Scared him.
We could break a record with that hull.

A lot of car guys think it`s so easy till they get into the 900-1200hp range and realize it`s a whole nother ball game. Boats don`t have a let off the gas cruise and they don`t go down the strip for 10 seconds at a time.
You`re going uphill towing a heavy trailer with EGTs thru the roof at all times.

You saying you think a 2JZ motor would be a good fit for a boat!?

Yup. If I had a dollar for every time someone suggested I needed to replace my 496 with a WRX Boxer engine, I be boating for free. Only slower.
That said... If I were to suddenly find myself in a different tax bracket, I'd be building a 2.5L Modified hydroplane with a 26B 4-rotor rotary. The only limitations are the displacement and N/A.
Thanks. Brad.

Not turbocharged, but there is a 24' skater i keep seeing pictures of with twin LS motors that I think is just bad ass. Haven't seen how it preforms yet though

They are not uncommon as daily drivers in the Bay Area.

If you want to trailer to those places and simply go boating, get an outboard cat.
If you want to trailer to those places and go boating really fast, get an inboard cat with QC4Vs.
If you want to trailer to those places and spend day one with your a** up and your head down the engine bay, and day two, three and four waiting for parts to arrive, and then maybe go boating on day five, get something with a big block inboard.
Don't fool yourself.
