Converting triple to twin
For those who did that with success
did you just remove the center and kept the two outside ones in the original location and the same drive height? Or you had to get the twins closer together changing x dimension? |
If I were to go from a triple to a twin I would do a full staggered
|
Makes sense!
but what about just removing the center and leaving the outside power package in the same location? |
You could most likely just remove the center but there is a reason that fast twins have a high X dimension and narrow centers.

Keep in mind wil OL its a step bottom too. Also as Joe noted most are running HIGH X dimentions so if you went this route your centerline drive to drive may stay they same... but you may need to raise them to get the (X) high enough for your goals. I do not know if they raised them on the OL? I also do not know how the OL ran after the conversion? |
I have converted a few triples to twins we always went with a full staggered setup. that said we have worked on a couple that the center motor was removed, And the two rear engines were left in the original spot. the Y dimension was two wide, they do that to fit the center motor. And the boats performance was not good

it's not for my boat. it's an identical model boat for sale, on the cheap side, i wish a friend of mine would buy, but he is scared of triples... I keep telling him in today's days and ages, quad and quint are the trend so why be effraid of triples !!! ??? LOL !!! i told him i would removed the center one for him if that would make him buy it ! blocking the center and redoing the transom is not such a big deal, but staggering is way out of my knowledge ! so... boat still for sale ! |
