Big Thunder Going Huge For 2026 Event Season

It's going to be one doozy of a season for the Big Thunder crew, https://speedonthewater.com/big-thun...-event-season/

Hmmmm, one big event missing from that line-up! That sucks.

I doubt they were able to secure any dock space for Supercat Fest week Tank, especially with PBC having such a lock on that lake.

And to your point, Big Thunder sells just one brand—Fountain—that offers a high-performance cat. Though it is fair to point out that center consoles have become part of the Super Cat Fest display. :)

I noticed no Cigarette Rendezvous on the books yet.

Not surprised, PBC use to have such a great event and for a lot of us that’s a long ass tow to attend
hard to go that far for a mediocre event

The PBC Cigarette meets were epic. So cool to see all of them together.

I'm sure he was not referring to Supercat Fest........
There is a certain event that always happens over Father's Day weekend that is not on the list.

We are so lucky at LOTO to have so many top notch boat dealers/marinas. If anybody is in the market for just about any kind of boat up to large cruisers, Lake of the Ozarks in general, is the best boat show for both new and pre-owned anywhere, and it is every day!

Beyond impressive hardware seems to be endless around here

Helmwurst 01-17-2026 09:12 AM

PBC still has the largest Cig (used and storage) inventory in the area. Maybe they will step up to host an event if there is enough interest. I have not seen any "new" Cigs at BTM, so who knows. I'm sure the liability coverage is significant, but I have not heard of any issues with the Cig event. Except a noise complaint here and there, but otherwise nothing. Who needs the factory sponsorship anyway? There is one under the radar event that might be a good weekend for it, it is call Make Party Cove Great Again, but I have not seen a date for it this year yet.

ICDEDPPL 01-17-2026 10:28 AM

Nobody can do a run like PBC.

I would wager LOTO is the performance boating Mecca of the planet right now. I’d say havasu is a close second and has impressive hardware on any given weekend but LOTO edges them out with events, dealerships, and amount of BIG BALLER hardware.

The "noise" of 75 Cigarettes rolling up the lake is amazing. Almost better yet, you can feel the rumble of all of those big blocks. Better than most of the Poker Runs with the quiet outboards.

Eddienel 01-18-2026 07:00 AM

How hard can it be to put your own run/rendezvous whatever you want to call it together? If I had a business there and you called me and asked if you could bring 50 to 100 of your friends to spend money at my business I would be like hell yeah. No one is going to turn you down.

Helmwurst 01-18-2026 08:58 AM

Tango: Hell yes! I like to sit on the dock or go over to my neighbor's bluff martini deck and watch them! IYKYK..
Eddie: Lodging and dock space becomes the issue on the large events like the Cig run. But I agree with your statement. I believe the Skater Invitational at LOTO is private.

Push them sticks a little bit further Ken, you won’t be in the middle.

Big thunder going huge is a stretch. It’s sad when a new cigarette has to be delivered there and instantly goes to performer boat center to get sold!

Well, it was PBC that made the choice not to make a financial committment with Cigarette and then Cig went to BTM.
PBC also has some very loyal customers who only want to buy, sell and trade with them.

Spot on, I appreciate BTM doing the run last year. It was just a lot more low key and the weather kind of sucked too. It's hard to compete with PBC on hosting with their connections to other places on the lake along with having an outstanding place on the water to host!

JPEROG 01-19-2026 09:57 AM

It takes a real nucleus to attract people from all over the country like PBC does. I think that Mark and Brett pull permits on the majority of their runs as well. I totally get Brett wanting to support the customer/brands that they sell currently-they had the chance to jump back in with Cigarette and passed on it. The multiple runs that they host currently along with their Thursday night shootout party are great and some our most cherished days each year.

Outsider looking in it probably was a good move for PBC not making a financial commitment with Cigarette and the new owners. If the new owners had a past in boat building it would have been a different story. Look at all the big three chasing Musk, dealers that were forced to participate in the EV movement that Flopped. Similar situation IMO.

"Huge" was in regard to the volume of events they have planned, which is significant.

As noted, PBC did and does it better than anyone, the character and size of the facility was logistically perfect. It was a poor way for a factory to conduct business with the junior pres fresh off building dinosaurs with play-duh not understanding his own product and the logistical empire as LOTO! BT in a noble attempt cannot compete with a loyal base and a weekend of activities that was central for those that were willing to travel. PCB bent over backwards and several owners we met over those weekends during the Wu-han flu are now owners of Real Estate at the lake......that speaks volumes in and of itself. Perhaps that weekend could evolve back into just a PBC Rendezvous...........
