Sensor locations

Have a water psi gauge and oil temp gauge going in. I understand the best location for the water is drill and tap the intake manifold correct? Front passage fine?

Will the remote oil filter block work for the oil temp sensor? Or does it have to be in the pan?

Pics would be great on both.

On my 525SC(454ci) the water psi gauge is tapped on the portside of the block. I hope this helps.

I installed mine inline at the filter. This is monitoring the temp of the oil from the engine. I also installed a second unit after the cooler and using a DPDT switch I can see both temps using one gauge.

My water press gauge connects to a Tee that's screwed into the block drain port on Port side of both engs. One side of T goes to water press line and the other side has a drain fitting so owner can still use the drain port to drain the block without disturbing the water press line.

So can I do coolant passage in intake by number 1 cyl? I dont want the rust in the block area to clog the fitting. Guess it could happen anywhere.

Also can I use either one of these locations for the oil temp sensor? See below.

Is this an oil port? ^^^

Not exactly sure what side the plug is on ie, to engine or from cooler.

The top pic I'm pretty sure is where a pressure sending unit would go. Not sure that's a good location for getting an accurate temp reading. That port on the oil filter block should work fine. Trace the hose back to verify that the oil is running from the block directly to that filter location. That should be the hottest oil.

Water pressure sender can go anywhere there is water. Mine is in a port on my Tstat housing. I had one in a block drain on another boat and it liked to clog easily, but I was boating in a sandy/muddy river.

Ol temp sender can anywhere there is oil flow. Most people don't put it in the pan. I would also add an oil drain kit to the bottom of the pan to make oil changes easier
