Superboats Founder John Coen, Jr. Dies
The loss of a legendary East Coast V-bottom boat-builder, https://speedonthewater.com/superboa...-coen-jr-dies/
Speedonthewater.com offshore racing editor Eric Colby reports. |
Sorry for the news and prayers to him and his family.
Great article and thx for the history lesson. |
Big loss for the Long Island crew. Great boats, all of 'em back in the day: Superboat, Kryptonite, Hustler, Activator, Progression. One thing you never worried about with a Long Island boat was how well it was built.
RIP Mr. Cohen. |
Out of all the 21 types built, Shadow, Team Shadow, Activator, Challenger, the 21 Superboat was always the Leader-in-Class. John incorporated an inner liner that the others did not have. This made the 21 super boats ride with a solid, somewhat quiet feel while Keeping weight comparable with non- liner 21s. High Resale value of 21 Superboats confirms the Quality.
Rest in Peace Mr. Coen….. |
I highly suggest this podcast episode, long but super cool…. RIP

RIP John. Feeling lucky to still have my superboat in his memory.
|
RIP He was a great man! I was glad to have known him. I owned a 24 and a 30, great boats!
