Joined a few years after buying my Baja hammer, still enjoy seeing and hearing about the sport boats, even tho I sold out 2 years ago, short term till I find another😁 gained a ton of knowledge, had many laughs and made some good friends from here back when we did poker runs. And yes I agree, how things have changed......

Hey Bob, did you ever do the great loop or the run up north you wanted to do in the NT? You talked about it after your runs down into the Bahamas. Talk about great threads!! Those adventures were epic!!

Hey Tank. I've done 95% of the loop. Just skipped the section from Chicago over to the Mississippi. I cheated a bit and trailered from Great Lakes to Cincinnati, down the Ohio, Cumberland, Tennessee - Tom Biggby Waterway etc. As for the far north Arctic adventure through the North West Passage I had plans to buy and refurbish a former coast guard RIB would have made a perfect vessel to do it in. I spent a lot of time looking into the possibility of doing that and it's just not feasible with pleasure boats at this time with lack of supporting infrastructure. It was going to involve having drums fuel commercially delivered to depots along the way months before then there was a good chance on arrival the barrels would have been emptied by the locals. LOL When I was told that and issues with polar bears among other things, I returned to my senses and abandoned the idea ..... for now. LOL
Keep well,
Bob

LOL, great stuff Bob. Like I said, ALWAYS enjoyed your threads on your endurance runs! If you have time to post them, would love to see some pics of the great loop stuff. The NT had no issues with the shallow areas? I hear some of that run gets super shallow.

Been around since 99. Finally registered and joined in 2000. I think my official member #was 737. Met many great people on this site and are still friends with a few to this day. This was FB before FB was invented. Except we all had 1 thing in common. Performance boating

With the Great Loop I did not do it like most where they will start at one end or the other and do a continuous circumnavigation either clockwise or counter clockwise over a period of a year or two or more. I just hacked away at it in chunks as it suited me. LOL Lake Ontario down the Hudson River to New York, Atlantic City, down the east coast using both offshore and ICW when I could not run outside, into Florida, down into the Keys and up the west coast to Marco Island. Next leg was Marco Island to New Orleans in early 90's with my Top Gun. The OSO links below document southbound thru thru the central USA to Mobile, AL. I think that is the only part of the loop that I wrote about. Then in the north I've covered all of the Great Lakes except Superior ( Ontario, Erie, Huron and Michigan ) more times than I can count, mostly in the Nor Tech's and current Mystic. LOL
It's been a blast and I hope I've still got some miles left in me yet.

that’s awesome Bob. As always, thanks for sharing. Always loved reading your adventures. As I recall, I nearly made it on one with you to cover for Powerboat. You probably don’t recall that though. ;)

Hope all is well brother.
