Across the street from my house is a really nice park with a small lake. I came home today from work to see 10 kids on the ice (ages 6-13 or so I would guess), all in a group in the MIDDLE OF THE DAMN LAKE!!! Two days ago this was open water. It has been above freezing here eveyday this week, only getting below freezing at night. There are cracks everywhere in the ice surface, and puddles on it in places. I just know it's gonna be me calling 911 when one of the rats falls thru!!
Anyway, they didn't like it when I walked over there and asked them to wait a few more days before they went out on it. It's nice a smooth though.....probably great for skating. But NOT YET!!!! Especially all of them standing right next to eachother.
As a kid my father would have KICKED MY ASS for a stunt like that. Still would today if he could catch me!! LOL!!!
Anyway, just thought I'd share. Be careful this time of year.....snowmobilers and skaters alike!!!

I know what you mean, Mike.
Two days is nowhere near enough time. I can remember the anticipation, though, this time of year. I loved going into the attic and dusting off my hockey gear getting ready for the season. Kids will be kids, and it's good you went and straightened them out.

Waterfoul,
I guess my question would be.....Where are the parents? If they aren't there then that might explain where the kids got some of their common sense.

This is the kind of respect you get by giving a kid a TIMEOUT. When I was growing up there was no timeout. Well maybe there was. But it was an ass beating belt and yard-stick style followed by sitting in the corner or going to my room. No tv or playstation or phone in the room then either. AHHHHH those were the days!
