The guy did 6 month i jail for assaulting a 14yo girl and got 30 yrs probation and had to pay $8k in "restitution" (yeah that makes everything better)

I have to wonder how many judges would be out of a job if they convicted every criminal the first time with the max sentence? All the repeaters would be in prison
