Well said. Great perspective. I've heard nothing but horror stories from organizers coast to coast on what a PITA the whole ordeal is. I wouldn't want any part of it. Kudos to those that take on the challenge and no hard feelings to the ones that throw in the towel. Totally understandable.

That stinks !

To answer your “ But no matter what dedicated organizers do, regardless of how well they plan or the volume of cool attractions they include, making it to the 20-year mark is a formidable challenge.

Don’t believe me? Quick, name a go-fast pleasure-boating event outside several produced by the Florida Powerboat Club that has achieved that milestone.

Just for fun, I’ll spot you the Desert Storm Poker Run in Arizona, the Boyne Thunder Poker Run in Michigan and the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout. I’ll even give you Northern California’s Big Cat Poker Run, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in August.

Now it’s your turn. And offshore races don’t count—I’m talking about go-fast pleasure-boating events. I’ll wait.“ question,
I bring you this:

Do I win something ? Lol, kidding. I’m from the area and like to know it still happens. We are built on tourism. :thumbs

You win my admiration because i wracked my brain and struggled to come up with anything. I know I must have missed something, so while I was having fun with that stuff I was hoping to learn something new.

lake Cumberland has been going for maybe 30
years now. I stopped going in 2019 after 15 years because I just felt like I was getting nickel and dimed with hundreds of dollars every time I turned around. I think Kentucky lake has been going about as long.

Thought I had one. But nope. Close though.

Support our Troops poker run at LOTO is 19yrs this year. Here’s to hoping they make 20yrs! It always has a good number of boats. Has lost some shine from the beginning. But, it’s a good time.
